Babis Makridis
Babis Makridis is a distinguished Greek filmmaker whose work has garnered international acclaim. His journey began with the short film *The Last Fakir* (2005), which earned him the Newcomer's Prize at the Drama Short Film Festival in Greece. Makridis made a significant impact with his debut feature film, *L* (2012), which was showcased in competition at prestigious events such as the Sundance Film Festival and the Rotterdam Tiger Awards. This film was honored with the Grand Prix at the Molodist Film Festival in Kiev the same year.
Following this success, his second feature, *Pity* (2018), also premiered in competition at Sundance and the Rotterdam Film Festival. The film achieved critical success, winning multiple awards, including Best Film at the Hellenic Film Academy Awards in 2019, the FIPRESCI Prize at the Torino Film Festival, and accolades for Best Film and Best Director at the Odesa International Film Festival.
