Verena Altenberger

Verena Altenberger is a talented Austrian actress hailing from Salzburg, where she spent her formative years. She began her academic journey in Communication Studies before transitioning to the performing arts, ultimately graduating from the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna in 2015. Altenberger's early career included significant stage roles at the prestigious Burgtheater, followed by performances at renowned venues like the Volkstheater Vienna and the Salzburg Festival. Notably, she portrayed the Buhlschaft in the esteemed production of Jedermann in both 2021 and 2022.

Her breakthrough came with her captivating lead role in Adrian Goiginger’s acclaimed film, The Best of All Worlds (2017), a performance that garnered her multiple awards and significant recognition in the film industry. Altenberger has also made a mark in television, featuring prominently in series such as CopStories, Magda Makes It Work!, and Polizeiruf 110, along with various productions in Austria and Germany.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, she has been an influential figure in the film community, serving as the President of the Austrian Film Academy since 2021. Looking to expand her impact, Altenberger became an ambassador for the UN World Food Programme in 2025, further showcasing her commitment to making a difference beyond the screen.
