Ross Martin, originally named Martin Rosenblatt, was born on March 22, 1920, in Grodek, Poland, and passed away on July 3, 1981. He was an accomplished American actor renowned for his work across radio, voice acting, stage, film, and television. Martin garnered significant recognition for his role as Artemus Gordon in the CBS Western series The Wild Wild West, which aired from 1965 to 1969. In addition to his television success, he lent his voice to Doctor Paul Williams in the animated series Sealab 2020 in 1972, and contributed to additional characters in both Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids (1973) and Jana of the Jungle (1978).

Martin spent his formative years on the Lower East Side of New York City, where he was exposed to multiple languages. He was fluent in Yiddish, Polish, and Russian before acquiring English, and later expanded his linguistic skills to include French, Spanish, and Italian. Despite pursuing studies in business, education, and law—earning honors in these fields—he ultimately opted for a career in acting. His cinematic journey commenced with his role in George Pal's Conquest of Space (1955). Shortly thereafter, he attracted the attention of Blake Edwards, who cast him in diverse roles, including the loyal sidekick Andamo in Mr. Lucky (1959–1960), a sinister antagonist in Experiment in Terror (1962), and a cunning baron in The Great Race (1965).
