Cady Coleman is a distinguished Colonel in the United States Air Force and a seasoned NASA astronaut, renowned for her remarkable contributions to space exploration. Selected by NASA in 1992 as a mission specialist, Coleman has accumulated over 500 hours of spaceflight experience over the course of two Space Shuttle missions.

In 1995, she participated in the STS-73 mission, which focused on the USML-1 scientific experiments, encompassing fields such as biotechnology, combustion science, and fluid physics. Notably, during this mission, Coleman reported an unidentified flying object to the Mission Control in Houston, adding a unique chapter to her space journey. Throughout her inaugural flight, she completed 256 orbits around Earth, traveling in excess of 6 million miles.

Coleman's second venture into space occurred in 1999 as part of the STS-93 mission, where she served as mission specialist responsible for deploying the Chandra X-ray Observatory into orbit.
