Betty Francisco
Betty Francisco (September 26, 1900 – November 25, 1950) was a prominent American actress of the silent film era, renowned for her roles in dramatic and romantic films. Born Elizabeth Barton (or Bartman) in Little Rock, Arkansas, she was the sister of fellow actress Evelyn Francisco. Betty's film career spanned from 1920 to 1934, during which she accumulated numerous credited performances.
She made her cinematic debut in the 1920 film "A Broadway Cowboy," but it did little to elevate her profile. In 1923, she gained recognition as one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars, a nod to promising young actresses. Despite frequently being cast alongside established leading women, she carved out her own niche in the industry. Notable credits include her co-starring roles in "Ashes of Vengeance," alongside stars like Norma Talmadge and Wallace Beery, and her appearance in the popular film "Maytime" the same year.
Although she continued acting into the era of sound films, Betty's presence dwindled in the industry, and she primarily starred in "B movies," which ultimately led to her being largely forgotten. Her final film appearance was in "Romance in the Rain" in 1934. Betty Francisco passed away from a heart attack on her ranch in El Cerrito, Riverside County, California, at the age of 50. She was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
