Ben Hethcoat
Ben Hethcoat is a versatile actor and independent filmmaker who has made a significant impact on the Los Angeles film scene. For three years, he held the position of Director of Slamdance TV and served as the Documentary Programmer for the Slamdance Film Festival, where he played a key role in identifying and promoting critically acclaimed films that later gained distribution through prominent platforms such as HBO, Showtime, Oscilloscope, and The Orchard.
Hethcoat’s directorial debut, the documentary *DIY*, provides an insightful look into the independent filmmaking journey and features candid interviews with renowned filmmakers like Christopher Nolan, Rian Johnson, and the Russo Brothers. In the summer of 2015, he was selected for the American Storytellers Lab organized by the Tribeca Film Institute and CNN Films, focusing on his documentary project about Dr. Thomas Noguchi, famously known as "The Coroner to the Stars."
Additionally, Ben produced and starred in the award-winning short film *THE BABYSITTER MURDERS*, which has gained traction on the film festival circuit. He has also taken on Assistant Director roles for various projects at prestigious institutions like NYU, The American Film Institute, and UCLA, as well as for James Franco’s Rabbit Bandini Productions.
