Anna Quayle
Anne Veronica Maria Quayle (6 October 1932 – 16 August 2019) was a talented British actress known for her diverse contributions to film, television, and theater. Raised at the Convent of Jesus and Mary High School in Harlesden, she ventured into the performing arts, making a mark with both her stage presence and screen appearances.
Quayle's film credits include memorable roles in *A Hard Day's Night* (1964), where she shared a brief yet iconic scene with John Lennon, as well as *Smashing Time* (1967) and the German expressionist segment of *Casino Royale* (1967). She also showcased her musical talents as Baroness Bomburst in *Chitty Chitty Bang Bang* (1968). In theater, her remarkable performance in the original Broadway production of *Stop the World - I Want to Get Off* (1963) alongside Anthony Newley earned her a Tony Award for Best Supporting Musical Actress.
On television, Quayle captivated audiences with her roles in popular series such as the comedy-drama *Mapp and Lucia*, the children’s sci-fi show *The Georgian House*, and the beloved series *Grange Hill*, where she portrayed Mrs. Monroe from 1990 to 1994.
