Erik von Markovik
Erik von Markovik, better known as Mystery, is a Canadian author, lecturer, and renowned pick-up artist who has made a significant impact in the realm of attraction and dating. Born Erik James Horvat-Marković, he is best known for developing the influential "Mystery Method," which garnered widespread recognition within the pick-up artist (PUA) community. This approach eventually led to his role as the host of the VH1 reality series, *The Pickup Artist*.
The persona of Mystery was conceived in the late 1990s during his performances as a mentalist under the show title *Natural Magic*. His captivating magic acts have taken him to prestigious venues in Toronto, Las Vegas, and Hollywood. The moniker "Mystery" also served as his online alias. His literary contribution, *The Mystery Method: How to Get Beautiful Women Into Bed*, further solidified his position as a leading figure in the seduction community.
A pivotal relationship in his career was with writer Neil Strauss, who became both a friend and a protégé in the art of seduction. Together, they lived in a Hollywood mansion known as "Project Hollywood," which became a hub for aspiring pick-up artists. This connection is vividly recounted in Strauss's bestselling book, *The Game*.
In 2004, Mystery established the Mystery Method Corporation, but by late 2006, he transitioned to founding Venusian Arts. He currently operates a venture called "3 Second Rule," which emphasizes the importance of approaching potential romantic interests within three seconds of first noticing them.
