Ronald Kray
Ronald Kray (October 24, 1933 – March 17, 1995) was one half of the infamous Kray twins, notorious English gangsters who dominated the London underworld from the late 1950s until their capture in 1968. Along with his twin brother Reginald, commonly known as Reggie, Ronald operated a criminal organization known as the Firm, which was based in Bethnal Green, their childhood home.
The Kray twins engaged in a variety of illegal activities, including murder, armed robbery, arson, and extortion. At the height of their power in the 1960s, they became notorious figures, mingling with high society, being photographed by renowned photographer David Bailey, and even appearing on television, which contributed to their celebrity status.
On May 8, 1968, law enforcement officials, led by Detective Superintendent Leonard "Nipper" Read, arrested the twins. They were subsequently convicted in 1969 and sentenced to life imprisonment for their crimes. In 1979, Ronald was declared insane and transferred to Broadmoor Hospital, where he remained until his passing from a heart attack on March 17, 1995. The legacy of the Kray twins continues to influence popular culture, reflecting the dark allure of their criminal exploits.
