His journey in the film industry began while he was a student at the Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology, where he honed his skills by directing a variety of short films, commercials, industrials, and documentaries. After completing his studies, Sherman moved to London, where he made a significant mark with his feature film debut, *Death Line*, featuring Donald Pleasence.
