Rosalind Plowright
Rosalind Anne Plowright OBE, born on May 21, 1949, in Worksop, is a distinguished English opera singer known for her versatility, initially captivating audiences as a soprano before transitioning to the mezzo-soprano repertoire in 1999.
Plowright's musical journey began at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and continued at the London Opera Centre. Her professional debut took place in 1975 with Glyndebourne Touring Opera, where she portrayed Agathe in *Der Freischütz*. This was followed by notable roles such as Donna Elvira in *Don Giovanni* and the Countess in *The Marriage of Figaro*. She also made her English National Opera debut in 1976, gaining acclaim for her performance as the Page in *Salome*. Her portrayal of Fennimore in Delius's *Fennimore and Gerda* at the Camden Festival in 1979 garnered her critical praise.
