Murry Peeters
Murry Peeters is a distinguished actor, director, and screenwriter known for her compelling work in the entertainment industry. Currently, she serves as a writer and co-producer for the forthcoming series ROBYN HOOD. Peeters has an impressive filmography that includes notable roles in NBC's TAKEN, the video game FAR CRY 5, and the acclaimed series SEE. Her extensive acting background allows her to craft narratives rich in diverse and complex characters.
Murry's talents have been recognized through various prestigious programs. She was part of the first cohort of the WarnerMedia Access x Canadian Academy Writers Program and is a proud graduate of the Canadian Film Center's 2018 Writers' Lab. In 2018, she received the Magee TV Diverse Screenwriters Award and participated in the Netflix-Banff Diversity of Voices initiative in both 2019 and 2020. Furthermore, she took part in the Black Women Film! Big Up Producer's Residency and the Women in the Director's Chair Career Advancement Module in 2023. Peeters is also the founder of #StartWith8HollywoodNorth, a program designed to link industry leaders with emerging women and non-binary BIPOC creatives.
Her short film WOMAN MEETS GIRL, which she both wrote and directed, has garnered accolades at various festivals, including the Queer Screen's 30th Mardi Gras Film Festival and BFI Flare. It won multiple awards, such as Best Canadian Short and Best Performance at the Vancouver Short Film Festival, and received nominations for a DGC Award for Best Short Film and Best Scripted at the Yorkton Film Festival.
