Brian Delate transitioned to New York City after graduating from college, immersing himself in the vibrant culture and fast pace of the city. His acting career took off in 1981 when he made his debut with the New York Shakespeare Festival, appearing in both *Henry IV, Part I* and *The Tempest* during a summer season in Central Park. His theatrical journey continued with notable performances, including a collaboration with Diane Venora in Joseph Papp's *Hamlet*. Delate garnered significant acclaim for his role in the award-winning play *Tracers* during its successful runs in New York and London from 1984 to 1985.

In addition to his stage work, Delate featured prominently in daytime television and commercials. His film career started to flourish when he was cast by William Friedkin in *Python Wolf* in 1987, followed by a role opposite Robert De Niro and Ed Harris in *Jacknife*. His versatility saw him engage in three seasons with both River Arts Repertory and Phoenix Theatre Company, performing rotating repertory theatre across various venues. Notably, he portrayed Rick in the only authorized stage adaptation of *Casablanca*.
