Larry Kenney
Larry Kenney is a celebrated American voice actor and radio personality whose career spans decades. He embarked on his radio journey in 1963 at just 15 years old, starting as a disc jockey at WIRL in Peoria, Illinois. His broadcasting talents took him to various stations, including WOWO in Fort Wayne, WKYC in Cleveland from 1970 to 1973, WHN and WYNY in New York City, WJJD in Chicago, and WKHK in New York City until 1972.
Kenney is perhaps best known for his iconic voice work as Lion-O in the beloved 1980s animated series ThunderCats, as well as Karate Kat in The Comic Strip. He lent his voice to Bluegrass in SilverHawks and Dolph in TigerSharks, showcasing his versatility in animation. Additionally, he voiced popular breakfast cereal mascots, such as Count Chocula and Sonny the Cuckoo Bird, and made memorable cameos in shows like Family Guy, where he humorously referenced ThunderCats. In the 2011 reboot of ThunderCats on Cartoon Network, he returned to the franchise, voicing Claudus, the father of Lion-O and Tygra.
Kenney has also made his mark in the gaming industry, serving as the announcer for The Beat 102.7 in Grand Theft Auto IV and K.T.I. Radio in L.A. Noire. He provides the voice for JB Cripps in Red Dead Online, a part of Red Dead Redemption 2. In 2008, he showcased his talents further by performing as Mark Twain for a gala at the Mark Twain House and Museum, highlighting his diverse skill set and enduring legacy in entertainment.
