Toby Keith
Toby Keith Covel, born on July 8, 1961, is a prominent figure in American country music, recognized as a singer-songwriter, record producer, and actor. He launched his career with a series of successful albums: his self-titled debut in 1993, followed by Boomtown (1994), Blue Moon (1996), and Dream Walkin' (1997). These records, all certified gold or higher, featured hits like "Should've Been a Cowboy," which dominated the country charts and became the most-played country song of the 1990s, amassing over three million spins as noted by Broadcast Music Incorporated.
In 1998, Keith signed with Nashville DreamWorks, achieving significant acclaim with his breakout single "How Do You Like Me Now?!" This song, along with the 1999 album of the same name, was the top country track of 2000. His subsequent albums—Pull My Chain, Unleashed, and Shock'n Y'all—each generated multiple Number One hits and gained multi-platinum status. Following the closure of DreamWorks in 2005, Keith established his own label, Show Dog Nashville, which merged with Show Dog-Universal Music in 2009. Under this label, he released five more studio albums, including 2006's White Trash with Money and 2009's American Ride.
With a discography that includes thirteen studio albums, two Christmas albums, and numerous compilations, Keith boasts over forty singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, with nineteen reaching Number One. His collaborations, like the 2003 duet "Beer for My Horses" with Willie Nelson, have further solidified his status in the industry. In addition to music, Keith made his acting debut in 2005 with the film Broken Bridges and appeared in Beer for My Horses alongside Rodney Carrington in 2008.
