Russell Kiefel

Russell John Kiefel (1951 – 20 November 2016) was a distinguished Australian actor celebrated for his work across stage, film, and television. He honed his craft at the National Institute of Dramatic Art, launching his on-screen career with a notable role in the 1977 film The Singer and the Dancer. Kiefel gained recognition with performances in significant productions such as Breaker Morant (1980) and the Shakespearean adaptation Twelfth Night (1986). His versatility was evident in the television film The Leaving of Liverpool (1992) and in numerous popular television dramas, including Home and Away, Fireflies, and Stingers.

In 1998, he showcased his talent in an episode of Twisted Tales, and his extensive guest appearances enriched shows like Wildside, Blue Heelers, and Something in the Air. A highlight of his later career was his portrayal of Lloyd Ross in the 2008 historical drama Infamous Victory: Ben Chifley's Battle for Coal. In 2015, Kiefel joined the long-running soap opera Neighbours, taking on the recurring role of Russell Brennan, which further solidified his presence in the Australian entertainment landscape. Throughout his career, Kiefel left an indelible mark on the industry, remembered for his compelling performances and contributions to Australian cinema and television.
