Eliza Hittman, a talented filmmaker, grew up in the vibrant neighborhood of Flatbush, Brooklyn. Her passion for the performing arts began at Edward R. Murrow High School, where she immersed herself in theater. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in theater and drama from Indiana University in 2001, Hittman expanded her artistic horizons by delving into art and film. This pursuit culminated in her receiving a Master of Fine Arts from the School of Film/Video at California Institute of the Arts in 2010.

Hittman's directorial debut, *It Felt Like Love*, made a significant impact when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013, subsequently gracing the screens of the IFC Center in New York in March 2014. Her sophomore effort, *Beach Rats*, not only made waves at the 2015 Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab but also had its world premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, showcasing her growing reputation in the independent film scene.

Her critically acclaimed third film, *Never Rarely Sometimes Always*, premiered at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, where it earned the Special Jury Award for Neo-Realism. The film's accolades continued as it was chosen to compete for the prestigious Golden Bear at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival, ultimately winning the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize, one of the festival's highest honors. Hittman's work continues to resonate deeply within the film industry, marking her as a distinctive voice in contemporary cinema.
