Heidy Purga

Heidy Purga, born on March 18, 1975, is a prominent Estonian figure known for her multifaceted career as a radio and television presenter, director, journalist, and politician. She has served as a member of the XIII and XIV Riigikogu, Estonia's national legislature.

On April 17, 2023, Purga was appointed Minister of Culture in the third cabinet of Kaja Kallas, marking a significant milestone in her political journey.

Her academic background includes studying theatre direction at Tallinn University from 1994 to 1996, followed by a degree in electronic media from Concordia International University Estonia in 2002. Purga has built a diverse career in media, serving as a presenter, producer, and editor across various radio and television platforms. Notably, she worked as a producer for the popular song contest Eesti Laul from 2008 to 2015, contributing to the event's status as a cultural staple in Estonia.

Since 2014, she has been an active member of the Estonian Reform Party, aligning her political aspirations with her dedication to cultural and media development in the country. Purga’s contributions to both the arts and public service continue to shape Estonia’s cultural landscape.
