She made her musical debut under the indie label with her self-titled EP, **Cocko**, released on November 21, 1996. One of the standout tracks, **Sing a Song ~No Music, No Life~**, gained notable recognition by being featured in a promotional campaign for Tower Records Japan.
On March 21, 1997, Cocco officially changed the spelling of her name to "Cocco" and launched her major label career with the single **Countdown**, which was followed by the release of her first full-length album. However, it was in 1998 that she truly captured the spotlight with the hit single **Tsuyoku Hakanaimonotachi**, which achieved remarkable commercial success, selling over 250,000 copies in Japan.
