Jamie Leopold

Jaime Leopold, born in 1946 in the Bronx, New York, relocated to Portland with his parents, Rose and Bernard, in 1951. His formative years were marked by a vibrant exploration of the arts in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury during the 1960s, where he played upright bass for the eclectic band, Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks. This experience in a groundbreaking musical ensemble honed his creative spirit and set the foundation for his future endeavors.

Upon returning to Portland, Jaime established a thriving marketing firm, now known as Leopold Ketel, showcasing his entrepreneurial acumen while building a family with his wife, Shirley Lewton, and raising two daughters. As he entered the later stages of his life, Jaime shifted his focus towards music, dedicating the last decade to composing and performing his original songs with a talented ensemble of musicians.

His contributions to the arts culminated in a notable appearance in the 2017 film, The Last Hot Lick, directed by Mahalia Cohen, which draws inspiration from his life experiences. Jaime's journey reflects a rich tapestry of creativity, family, and entrepreneurship, leaving a lasting legacy in both the music and business communities.
