María Rojo, born María de Lourdes Rojo e Incháustegui in Mexico City on August 15, 1943, is a celebrated actress renowned for her work in film, theater, and television. She is the daughter of Roberto Rojo, an agronomist, and Águeda Incháustegui, a dedicated school teacher.

Throughout her childhood, Rojo experienced anxiety and faced challenges related to dyslexia, which contributed to feelings of insecurity. However, her remarkable artistic talent soon emerged, allowing her to shine in the performing arts.

Her journey in the entertainment industry began at the tender age of eight when she was cast in the Teatro Fantástico program, portraying a character named Ciquirritica. Over the course of more than six decades, Rojo has built an impressive and varied career. In recognition of her contributions, she was invited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to join as a special member in 2018.

Among her many accolades, Rojo was the first actress to receive the prestigious "Premio Bellas Artes" for her outstanding body of work.
