His artistic journey began in the 1970s, where he performed with esteemed dance companies such as Germany's Wuppertal Ballet, the Scottish Ballet, and the London City Ballet. During this period, he also had the privilege of collaborating with the legendary ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev, enhancing his reputation in the dance world.

In 1980, Chua transitioned into teaching Wing Chun Kung Fu in London, where he not only shared his expertise but also caught the eye of Hollywood.
