2 titles Acting May 31, 1933 Died: Jul 19, 1990 Perm, RSFSR, USSR

Georgi Burkov, an acclaimed Honored Artist of the RSFSR, was born to Ivan G., who dedicated his career to Motovilikha in Perm, where he progressed from a factory worker to chief mechanic. His mother, Maria Sergeyevna, was a constant support and confidante throughout his life. Burkov pursued his education at the law faculty of Perm University from 1952 to 1956, while also attending an evening studio at the Perm Drama Theater between 1955 and 1958. Despite facing setbacks in his attempts to enroll in theatrical schools in Moscow, he began his professional journey in regional theaters in Bereznikov and Kemerovo in the early 1960s.

His talent caught the attention of a prominent theater journalist from Moscow, who recommended him to Boris Lvov-Anokhin, the chief director of the Stanislavsky Theater. This pivotal moment led to Burkov joining the prestigious theater scene in the capital at the age of 32, despite lacking formal training. He became a key member of the Stanislavsky Theater in 1965, later performing with the Sovremennik Theater from 1970 to 1971, and the Moscow Art Theater named after Gorky starting in 1980. He also served as the artistic director of the V.M. Culture Center Shukshina from 1988 to 1990. Burkov passed away on July 19, 1990, in Moscow and was laid to rest at the Vagankovsky cemetery. His legacy is honored in Chapter 38 of Leonid Filatov's “To Remember.” He is survived by his widow, Tatyana Ukharova, and daughter, Maria Burkova, both of whom are accomplished actresses.
