Aurélien Recoing
Aurélien Recoing, born on May 5, 1958, in Paris, is a distinguished French actor and stage director with a rich artistic lineage. He is the son of puppeteer Alain Recoing and has three siblings, each contributing to the arts in various capacities.
Recoing's journey in acting began in 1974 when he enrolled at Cours Florent and further honed his craft at Quartier d'Ivry. By 1977, he was studying at the prestigious Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in Paris under the mentorship of Jean-Pierre Miquel and Antoine Vitez. Over the years, he has graced more than 30 plays and directed notable works by playwrights such as Thomas Bernhard and Paul Claudel. His accomplishments in theatre were recognized with the Prix Gérard Philipe in 1989.
In 1980, Aurélien made his cinematic debut in "Exploits of a Young Don Juan." He gained prominence in the art-house film scene, collaborating with acclaimed directors like Philippe Garrel and Laurence Ferreira Barbosa. His breakout role came in 2001 with Laurent Cantet's "Time Out," where he portrayed a man fabricating a false identity after losing his job. Throughout his career, he has alternated between mainstream hits like "Ruby & Quentin" and critically acclaimed films such as "Blue is the Warmest Colour," which won the Palme d'Or at Cannes.
In 2021, he ventured into directing with his short film "The Rifleman," which received accolades for Best Drama. Currently, he is working on his feature debut, "Naked Hands," further showcasing his multifaceted talents in the film industry.
