Wolf Ruvinskis
Wolf Ruvinskis Manevics, born in 1921 in Riga, Latvia, hailed from a Jewish family that fled to Argentina to escape the turmoil of World War II. Growing up in challenging circumstances marked by poverty, Wolf found solace in athletics, particularly wrestling, which sparked his passion for sports. At the age of 19, he embarked on a professional wrestling career that took him across South America, the United States, and ultimately to Mexico, where he made a significant mark in the wrestling community.
Throughout the 1950s, Ruvinskis faced off against legendary Mexican wrestlers like El Santo, Black Shadow, El Médico Asesino, and Lobo Negro, solidifying his status in the ring. Beyond wrestling, he showcased his multifaceted talents as a tango singer and magician. His artistic journey led him to film and theater, with a notable breakthrough in 1953 when he starred in _La Bestia magnífica_, introducing audiences to Neutron, a character of his own creation. His fame soared with his portrayal of a charming rural youth ensnared by a mad scientist in the cult classic _The Body Snatcher_ (1957). Ruvinskis continued to act in films until the 1990s and received an Ariel nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role in _Juego limpio_ (1996). A businessman as well, he experienced three marriages: first to Beatriz Perez, then to dancer Armida Herrera, and finally actress Lilia Michel, until his passing in 1999.
