Tony Tanner
Tony Tanner (27 July 1932 – 8 September 2020) was a distinguished British actor known for his work on stage, in film, and on television, as well as a Tony-nominated director and choreographer. Early in his career, Tanner made a mark with numerous performances in plays and variety shows across British television. His most prominent role came in 1962 when he assumed the character of Littlechap in the West End production of Stop the World - I Want to Get Off, succeeding the show's original star and creator, Anthony Newley.
Although Tanner's film appearances were limited, he left a notable impression in the 1966 film adaptation of Stop the World - I Want to Get Off, stepping into the role when Newley opted out. Unfortunately, the film did not achieve the success anticipated, both in terms of critical reception and box office performance. Following this, Tanner redirected his efforts primarily towards the theatre, where he continued to showcase his talents and passion for performance until his passing in 2020. His contributions to the arts have left a lasting legacy in the world of British theatre.
