Briony Behets
Briony Behets, born on July 21, 1951, is a distinguished English-Australian actress recognized for her significant contributions to Australian television during the 1970s and 1980s. At just 17, she was accepted into the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she honed her craft for two years. Following her studies, Behets ventured to the United States as part of a student exchange program, where she showcased her talents as a nightclub dancer.
Behets's breakout roles came in Australian soap operas, where she made her mark as an original cast member of "Number 96" in 1972, portraying Helen Eastwood, though her character was written out after a few months. She then joined the original cast of "The Box" in 1974, where she remained for 14 months before transitioning to a brief role in "Bellbird" and securing a prominent position in the teen soap "Class of '75."
Her film credits include notable performances in "The Trespassers" (1976), for which she earned a nomination for Best Actress, as well as roles in "Raw Deal" (1977), "Inside Looking Out" (1977), and "Long Weekend" (1978). In the 2000s, Behets expanded her repertoire with guest appearances on U.S. series like "JAG." She returned to "Neighbours" in July 2008, playing Kate Newton, a romantic interest for Harold Bishop, 21 years after her initial appearance. Most recently, she featured as Mrs. Reg in the third season of "The Saddle Club," marking her continued presence in the industry.
