Guillermo de Anda is a prominent archaeologist renowned for his extensive research on the Maya civilization, focusing particularly on the exploration of caves and cenotes as well as the sacred geography integral to Maya culture. Over a span of 14 years, he served as both a professor and researcher at the Facultad de Ciencias Antropológicas at the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán (UADY), where he played a pivotal role in establishing and leading the department dedicated to underwater archaeology.

Currently, he is affiliated with Mexico’s Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH), where he manages a variety of special projects centered on underwater archaeological endeavors. One of his key initiatives is the Great Maya Aquifer project in Yucatán, which is supported by National Geographic. This project highlights the significance of the region's water systems in Maya history and culture.

In addition to his ongoing work, Guillermo has been recognized with grants from the Society for his Cenote Cult project, which investigates the cultural and historical importance of cenotes in Maya society. His contributions to the field have not only advanced our understanding of ancient civilizations but have also fostered a deeper appreciation for the cultural heritage of the Maya.
