Judy Gringer
Judy Gringer, born to a Jewish tailor in Bagsværd, embarked on her artistic journey as a ballet student at the Royal Danish Theatre from 1950 to 1955. After her training, she found herself touring Italy with the Rita Clair Ballet instead of pursuing a traditional ballet career. Gringer transitioned into the world of performing arts, becoming a prominent dancer in the Tivoli revue and making her mark in film. In 1957, she joined ABC Theatre, portraying the beloved Lommer girl from 1957 to 1964, while also performing at Aveny Theatre. Her partnership with the renowned comedian Dirch Passer in the hit sketch "Babs and Nutte" was a significant breakthrough in her career.
From 1964 onwards, Gringer worked as a freelance actress, gracing the stages of various theaters in Copenhagen and beyond, including the Fiolteatre and provincial venues. During a three-year stint in New York, she embraced the hippie lifestyle, taking on various odd jobs such as babysitting and performing as an extra. She also appeared in several revues, including the Holstebro-Revyen. Gringer concluded her theatrical career in 1984 at Aveny Theatre in the production "Amalie Skram."
Her personal life included a notable five-year relationship with Dirch Passer and a decade-long partnership with film director Knud Leif Thomsen, with whom she shares a daughter, Julie Gringer. She was briefly married to psychologist Bent Tage Truelsen. Gringer’s filmography boasts a range of popular movies, including "Pigen og pressefotografen," "Fem mand og Rosa," and "Julefrokosten," among others, showcasing her diverse talent in the entertainment industry.
