Chulachak Chakrabongse
Chulachak Chakrabongse, known professionally as Hugo Chakrabongse, is a multifaceted talent hailing from a distinguished lineage as the great-grandson of King Rama V of the Chakri Dynasty. Born in England, he spent his formative years in Thailand along the picturesque Chaophraya River. His mother, Mom Rachawong Narisa Chakrabongse, is a prominent Thai author and publisher, while his father is British, although they later divorced.
Hugo's artistic journey encompasses acting, modeling, singing, and songwriting. He is currently based in New York City and has signed with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label, where his unique musical style has been characterized as “gangsta-rock.” Notably, he made history as the first Thai artist to debut an international album, Old Tyme Religion, which reached the Billboard Heatseekers Album Chart. The album features hit singles like “99 Problems” and “Bread & Butter.”
His rise in the music industry was propelled by the inclusion of his song “Disappear” on Beyoncé’s acclaimed album, I Am… Sasha Fierce, which marked the beginning of fruitful collaborations that ultimately led to his record deal in 2010. In addition to his musical accomplishments, Hugo was recognized for his acting prowess with a Mekhala Award in 2002 for his role in the drama Look Poo Chai Hua Jai Petch.
