Steve Witting
Steve Witting is an accomplished American actor and director, best known for his breakout role in the beloved 1980s sitcom *Valerie*. His career has spanned decades, featuring notable performances in films such as *Batman Returns*, *Hoffa*, and *Shutter Island*. In addition to his film work, he appeared in Martin Scorsese's *The Wolf of Wall Street*, further showcasing his versatile talent.
Witting made his directorial debut in 1991 with an episode of the family sitcom *Step by Step*, marking the beginning of his ventures behind the camera. His creative range extended to video games as well; he starred in the full-motion video game *Wirehead* for the Sega Mega CD, demonstrating his adaptability across various media.
His passion for acting began in his teenage years at Richmond Hill High School's drama club in Queens, where he was inspired by teacher Alfred Christie, who also managed the Hampton Playhouse in New Hampshire. At the age of seventeen, Witting moved to New Hampshire to work as an apprentice at the Hampton Playhouse, where he not only honed his craft but also met his future wife, Renee Rogers, who was a fellow apprentice. Throughout his career, Witting frequently returned to the Playhouse during the summer, either as an actor or director, until its unfortunate demolition in 2001, marking the end of an era for the cherished venue.
