Per Ohlin

Per Yngve Ohlin, born on January 16, 1969, and sadly passing on April 8, 1991, is widely recognized by his stage name, Dead. He emerged as a prominent figure in the black and death metal scenes, particularly noted for his intense vocal style and profound lyricism. Ohlin gained fame as the lead vocalist for the influential Norwegian black metal band Mayhem, where his unique stage presence and artistic vision helped shape the genre's identity.

Before his time with Mayhem, Dead was also the frontman of the Swedish death metal band Morbid, where he showcased his talent on their demo, "December Moon." His contributions to the metal community were significant, helping to pioneer the dark, atmospheric aesthetic that would become synonymous with black metal.

In recognition of his impact on the music industry, Roadrunner Records included him in their list of The Greatest Metal Front-Men of All Time, ranking him at an impressive No. 48. Despite his brief career, which was tragically cut short, Dead's legacy continues to resonate within the metal community, influencing countless musicians and fans alike.
