Adolf Hitler (April 20, 1889 – April 30, 1945) was an Austrian-born politician who rose to prominence as the leader of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP), better known as the Nazi Party. He served as Germany's Chancellor from 1933 until 1945, and from 1934 held the title of Führer und Reichskanzler, effectively consolidating power in a totalitarian regime. Hitler is infamously known for his pivotal role in the emergence of fascism across Europe, the outbreak of World War II, and the horrific events of the Holocaust.

A decorated World War I veteran, Hitler joined the German Workers' Party in 1919, which later evolved into the NSDAP under his leadership beginning in 1921. His early political ambitions included a failed coup attempt known as the Beer Hall Putsch on November 8-9, 1923, for which he was imprisoned for a year. During his incarceration, he penned his autobiography, Mein Kampf. Upon his release on December 20, 1924, he garnered support through fervent nationalism, antisemitism, and anti-communism.

Appointed Chancellor on January 30, 1933, Hitler dismantled the Weimar Republic and established the Third Reich, marked by a brutal regime that led to the systematic extermination of millions, including six million Jews during the Holocaust. In the final days of World War II, as Soviet forces closed in, Hitler married Eva Braun. To evade capture, the couple took their own lives on April 30, 1945, shortly before their bodies were incinerated.
