Estela Inda, born on June 28, 1917, in Mexico, was a prominent film actress known for her impactful contributions to Mexican cinema. She gained recognition for her role in the acclaimed film "Los olvidados," directed by Luis Buñuel, released in 1949. Inda began her career as an extra in the popular movie "La Mujer del Puerto," featuring Andrea Palma. Over the years, she appeared in several noteworthy films, including "La Noche de los Mayas" (1939), the second sound version of "Santa" (1943), and "Bugambilia" (1944), where she starred alongside Dolores del Río. In 1945, she worked with María Félix in "Amok," and later, she was part of the successful films "Los olvidados" and "El Rebozo de Soledad" (1955).

In addition to her acting career, Inda dedicated herself to teaching in her later years at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico. She also directed a folkloric dance group known as "Stella Inda y su Conjunto." Notably, in 1947, she portrayed the historical figure La Malinche in an uncredited role in the Hollywood epic "Captain from Castile," alongside César Romero as Hernán Cortés. Estela Inda's legacy in Mexican cinema extends beyond her on-screen roles, as she also played a significant part in shaping future generations of artists until her passing on December 7, 1995.
