Serj Tankian
Serj Tankian, born on August 21, 1967, is an accomplished Armenian-American musician renowned for his role as the lead vocalist and songwriter of the Grammy Award-winning band, System of a Down. His contributions as a multi-instrumentalist and producer have made a significant impact in the rock music scene.
Throughout his career, Tankian has been pivotal in shaping the sound of System of a Down, contributing to five critically acclaimed albums. Beyond the band, he has collaborated on a project with Arto Tunçboyacıyan, resulting in the album "Serart," and has released two solo albums: "Elect the Dead" and "Imperfect Harmonies." Notably, he also produced a live orchestral adaptation of "Elect the Dead," performed with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, titled "Elect the Dead Symphony."
In addition to his musical endeavors, Tankian is passionate about social and political issues. In 2002, he co-founded Axis of Justice with guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting social justice. Furthermore, he established Serjical Strike Records, a label that showcases various artists.
