David Greathouse

David Greathouse is a distinguished special effects makeup artist celebrated for his work on films such as Ra.One (2011), The Usual Suspects (1995), and The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017). A self-taught talent, Greathouse began his journey in the world of special effects at the tender age of ten, inspired by his aunt's costume shop, where he was introduced to the art of makeup. He further developed his craft by designing and performing in haunted houses, which allowed him to experiment and refine his skills.

Greathouse considers himself fortunate to have gained invaluable experience as a shop assistant in Los Angeles. During this time, he had the opportunity to learn from some of the most renowned professionals in the industry, significantly shaping his artistic approach. One of his greatest influences has been Robert Kurtzman, with whom he currently collaborates at Creature Corps in Ohio.

Looking ahead, Greathouse has ambitious plans; should he emerge victorious in his current endeavors, he aims to produce and direct his own feature film. With a passion for storytelling and a keen eye for detail, David Greathouse continues to make his mark in the realm of special effects, leaving an indelible impact on the film industry.
