Mary Lee, originally named Mary Lee Wooters, was born on October 24, 1924, in Centralia, Illinois. She emerged as a talented actress renowned for her performances in films such as *Ridin' on a Rainbow* (1941), *Nancy Drew... Reporter* (1939), and *Three Little Sisters* (1944). A prominent figure in the entertainment industry during the 1940s, she often collaborated with the legendary Gene Autry, appearing in nine of his westerns, where she not only showcased her singing abilities but also provided a touch of comedic relief.

Her journey in showbiz began alongside her two sisters, Vera and Norma Jean, who were also performers. The trio initially performed as a singing act at local events, but Mary quickly transitioned to a solo career. She gained significant recognition when Ted Weems, impressed by her talent, invited her to sing with his orchestra for two years in the late 1930s. Republic Studios soon dubbed her "America's Little Sweetheart," further cementing her place in Hollywood.

In addition to her film career, Mary appeared on Autry's popular radio show, *Melody Ranch*, and took part in a few Roy Rogers westerns during Autry's military service. After marrying Harry J. Banan, she had two children, Harry Philip and Laura L., and retired from acting shortly thereafter. In her later years, she worked at Bank of America before passing away on June 6, 1996, in Sacramento, California, where she was laid to rest at Sierra Hills Memorial Park.
