Paul Orndorff
Paul Parlette Orndorff Jr., affectionately dubbed "Mr. Wonderful," was a prominent figure in American professional wrestling and a former college football player. He gained widespread recognition through his dynamic performances in WWE and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Orndorff's wrestling career took off in the 1980s, during the peak of the wrestling boom, where he emerged as a significant star after spending seven years in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA).
In WWE, he became well known for his collaborations with the legendary manager Bobby Heenan and his rivalries with icons like Hulk Hogan, participating in the main events of landmark events such as the inaugural WrestleMania and Survivor Series. However, due to an untreated neck injury, Orndorff transitioned to WCW in early 1988. There, he captured the WCW World Television Championship and teamed up with Paul Roma to win the WCW World Tag Team Championship under the moniker "Pretty Wonderful."
After grappling with arm atrophy from a persistent injury, Orndorff hung up his wrestling boots in 2000 and later faced cancer treatment in 2011. In his post-wrestling career, he dedicated himself to mentoring the next generation of wrestlers. His contributions to the sport were recognized with his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and the National Wrestling Alliance Hall of Fame in 2009.
