Richard Barbieri
Richard Barbieri, born on November 30, 1957, is an accomplished English musician, composer, and sound designer, renowned for his innovative contributions to the music scene. He first gained prominence as a member of the influential new wave band Japan, which rose to fame in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Barbieri was also part of Japan's brief reunion in the early 1990s under the name Rain Tree Crow.
In 1993, he became a key figure in the progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, where he serves as the keyboardist. As one of the longest-serving members, alongside founder Steven Wilson, Barbieri has played an essential role in shaping the band's distinctive sound and expansive musical journey. His work with Porcupine Tree has garnered critical acclaim, with notable albums including "In Absentia" and "Deadwing," which showcase his atmospheric keyboard arrangements and soundscapes.
