Edgar Vivar

Édgar Vivar, a renowned Mexican actor and comedian, was born on December 28, 1948, in Mexico City. Initially drawn to the arts by his grandfather, he pursued a degree in medicine at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). However, as part of his medical training, he needed to fulfill credits in the arts, which led him to explore theater. This rekindled his passion for performance, prompting him to join the University Theater Center, where he graduated in 1964.

Vivar briefly practiced as a doctor but soon transitioned to acting full-time after receiving a life-changing offer from the iconic comedian Roberto Gómez Bolaños. Vivar became a household name through his unforgettable roles on the beloved television show "El Chavo del 8," where he portrayed the memorable characters of "El Señor Barriga," "Ñoño," and "Caquito Botija."
