Rebecca Balding
Rebecca Balding (September 21, 1948 – July 18, 2022) was a talented American actress celebrated for her memorable roles in television, particularly in the series *Soap* and *Charmed*. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Balding pursued her education at the University of Kansas before embarking on her acting career.
Her breakout role came as Carol David, the mother of Jodie Dallas' child, on the satirical series *Soap*, where she appeared in 19 episodes from 1978 to 1980. She also showcased her versatility in the 1979 sitcom *Makin' It* as Corky Crandall, and made an early appearance as reporter Carla Mardigian in the acclaimed drama *Lou Grant* in 1977. That same year, she starred alongside Ed Asner in the heartwarming holiday film *The Gathering* and played Amy Franklin in the thriller *Deadly Game* featuring Andy Griffith.
In the mid-1990s, Balding guest-starred on *7th Heaven*, portraying Ellen, the mother of Matt's girlfriend. She made a significant impact on *Charmed*, first appearing as Aunt Jackie in the season one episode "The Fourth Sister" and later as Elise Rothman, a pivotal character who served as editor-in-chief and boss to Phoebe Halliwell, from 2002 until the show's conclusion in 2006.
Balding was married to producer James L. Conway, whom she met during auditions for the horror film *The Boogens*. She passed away at the age of 73 in Park City, Utah, after battling ovarian cancer.
