Carol Ohmart
Armelia Carol Ohmart, better known as Carol Ohmart, was an American actress and former model whose career spanned from the early 1950s to the 1970s. Renowned for her performances in numerous films and television series, she particularly made her mark in the horror and film noir genres. Among her prominent roles were lead parts in The Wild Party (1956) and William Castle's classic House on Haunted Hill (1959).
Born into a Mormon family in Salt Lake City, Utah, Ohmart grew up mainly in Seattle and Spokane, Washington. After completing high school, she returned to Utah, where she earned the title of Miss Utah and went on to secure a fourth-place finish in the Miss America pageant. This exposure opened doors to modeling opportunities, including work with notable artist Milton Caniff.
Making her film debut in Michael Curtiz's The Scarlet Hour (1956), Ohmart quickly became a familiar face on television and in horror films like Spider Baby (1968). Her final film role was in The Spectre of Edgar Allan Poe (1974), after which she retired from acting to explore New Age philosophy and spiritualism. Carol Ohmart spent her later years in Seattle and passed away from natural causes in Fort Collins, Colorado, in 2002, at the age of 74.
