Matthew J. McCarthy

Matthew J. McCarthy, born on November 9, 1979, in Providence, Rhode Island, is a multifaceted American comedian, actor, writer, and improvisational artist currently based in Los Angeles. He has gained recognition for his comedic talents through memorable appearances on shows like *Conan* and *CollegeHumor.com*, as well as for hosting the *We Watch Wrestling Podcast*. McCarthy also plays the role of Carl in the CBS sitcom *How We Roll*.

Raised in an Irish-Catholic family in Rumford, Rhode Island, McCarthy attended St. Margaret's School and La Salle Academy before earning a degree from Fordham University. During his college years, he served as the university's mascot, The Ram, from 1999 to 2001. His comedic journey began after graduation, and he honed his improvisational skills at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in New York City.

In 2008, he starred in a memorable Guinness commercial for St. Patrick's Day, followed by his portrayal of The Cable Guy in Verizon Fios advertisements.
