Prince Albert II of Monaco, born Albert Alexandre Louis Pierre Grimaldi on March 14, 1958, has been the reigning sovereign of Monaco since 2005. The son of Prince Rainier III and the late Princess Grace, he was born within the walls of the Prince's Palace, making him the second child and sole male heir to the Monegasque throne.

Albert's early education took place at the Lycée Albert Premier, followed by political science studies at Amherst College. Before embarking on his royal duties, he showcased his athletic prowess as a bobsledder, representing Monaco in several Winter Olympic Games until his retirement in 2002.

Following his father's health decline, Albert was appointed regent in March 2005 and assumed the title of sovereign prince shortly after Prince Rainier's passing. Since ascending the throne, he has emerged as a passionate advocate for environmental issues, particularly ocean conservation and renewable energy initiatives. In 2006, he established The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, aimed at funding and promoting ecological sustainability around the globe.

In terms of personal wealth, Albert's assets are estimated to exceed $1 billion, including significant stakes in the Société des Bains de Mer, which manages Monaco's casino and entertainment ventures.

In July 2011, he married South African swimmer Charlene Wittstock, and together they have four children: Jazmin, Alexandre, Gabriella, and Jacques. Albert, who once held dual citizenship in Monaco and the United States, renounced his American nationality in his youth.
