Lucas Paleocrassas
Lucas Paleocrassas is a prominent Greek filmmaker and video artist, residing in Athens, Greece. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Communications, specializing in Film & TV and Journalism, from the American College of Greece, alongside studies at the Open University in the UK. His academic journey was further enriched by a scholarship from the Libra Group, which allowed him to pursue postgraduate studies in Los Angeles.
Since 2011, Paleocrassas has focused his creative efforts on producing documentaries that tackle significant social issues. His 2018 feature film debut, “Citizen Xenos,” garnered acclaim, earning a nomination for the International Amnesty Award at the 20th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival and making its American debut at the New York City Greek Film Festival. His impactful works have been showcased on national television and presented in esteemed educational settings worldwide, including at Sapienza University in Rome and New York University.
In 2019, he contributed to the exhibition “Mitli Mitlak” (Like You Like Me) in Detroit, Michigan, where he showcased a poignant series of video-portraits featuring Syrian refugees, further solidifying his commitment to humanitarian storytelling through film. Paleocrassas continues to be a vital voice in contemporary cinema, using his platform to shed light on pressing social matters.
