Kenneth Mars (April 4, 1935 – February 12, 2011) was a distinguished American actor known for his versatile performances across film, television, and voice work. He gained significant recognition for his roles in two of Mel Brooks' iconic films: portraying the eccentric Nazi playwright Franz Liebkind in *The Producers* (1967) and the bumbling Police Inspector Hans Wilhelm Friedrich Kemp in *Young Frankenstein* (1974).

Mars showcased his comedic talents in Peter Bogdanovich's *What's Up Doc?* (1972) and collaborated with Woody Allen in *Radio Days* (1987) and *Shadows and Fog* (1991). His memorable television appearances included two seasons of the popular series *Malcolm in the Middle*, where he played Otto Mannkusser, an endearing but clueless German immigrant and dude ranch owner.
