John Richard Deacon, born on August 19, 1951, is a retired English musician renowned for his role as the bassist of the iconic rock band Queen. He became a member of Queen in 1971, recognized for his musical talents and expertise in electronics. In addition to his primary instrument, Deacon contributed to the band's studio recordings by playing guitar, keyboards, and piano. Following the passing of lead vocalist Freddie Mercury in 1991 and the subsequent Tribute Concert in 1992, Deacon made only occasional appearances with the remaining members of Queen before stepping away from the music scene entirely in 1997.

His son, Luke Deacon, has a cameo in the 2018 biographical film about the band, "Bohemian Rhapsody."
