Indra Jegel
Indra Gunawan, S.E., popularly known as Indra Jegel, was born on November 5, 1989, and has made a significant mark in the entertainment industry in Indonesia as a stand-up comedian, actor, presenter, and broadcaster. His comedic journey took a major turn when he clinched the title of champion in Stand Up Comedy Indonesia Season 6 on Kompas TV in 2016, showcasing his unique talent and distinctive Malay accent that resonated with audiences not only in Indonesia but also in Malaysia, where he is frequently invited to perform.
Indra's foray into stand-up comedy began during his university days. He joined the Stand Up Indo Medan community in 2012, becoming one of its founding members. His early involvement set the foundation for his comedic career.
In 2014, he showcased his skills on Kompas TV's Liga Komunitas Stand Up, competing against notable comedians like Lolox, Ridho, and Cacink Newe, and ultimately taking home the victory. The following year, he made waves at StandUpFest in Jakarta, further solidifying his presence in the comedy scene.
His big break came in 2016 when he reached the finals of Stand Up Comedy Indonesia Season 6. With his engaging storytelling and clever use of pantun—a traditional form of rhyming poetry—he captivated both audiences and judges, culminating in his well-deserved victory as the season's champion.
