Catherine Lachens

Catherine Lachens, born on September 2, 1945, in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, and who passed away on September 27, 2023, in Paris, was a vibrant French actress celebrated for her dynamic presence, deep voice, and infectious enthusiasm.

Emerging from humble beginnings, Lachens embarked on a diverse array of jobs before stepping into the spotlight with her film debut in 1973 in Nina Companeez's comedy, *L'Histoire très bonne et très joyeuse de Colinot trousse-chemise*, where she starred alongside the iconic Brigitte Bardot. Her career blossomed as she took on memorable roles in popular comedies, collaborating with esteemed directors such as Georges Lautner in *Flic ou voyou* and *Mort d'un pourri*, as well as Philippe de Broca, Claude Zidi, and Jean Yanne. Her versatility shone through as she portrayed a range of characters, from a compassionate prostitute to a quirky bourgeois, and from a stern school principal to a passionate educator.

On stage, Lachens showcased her talent in both classic and modern works, performing plays by Molière, Feydeau, Genet, and Ionesco under the guidance of acclaimed directors like Marcel Maréchal and Andrzej Wajda. Her international performances included notable appearances in Russia.
