Mike Stone, born in Hawaii, showcased his athletic prowess from a young age, excelling in various sports such as basketball, football, and track and field. He distinguished himself as co-captain of both his basketball and football teams and earned recognition for his exceptional skills in basketball.
At the age of 17, Mike's journey into martial arts began when he started training in Aikido under a highly esteemed instructor. Shortly after graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he encountered Karate instructor Herb Peters. This pivotal moment ignited a lifelong passion for Karate, and within just six months of training, Mike earned his black belt.
By the age of 20, Mike Stone made history as the youngest and only undefeated Karate Champion, securing an unprecedented 91 consecutive victories in black belt matches. His dominance in martial arts extended to forms competition, where he remained undefeated as well. Over his illustrious career, Mike triumphed in every tournament he entered, often winning multiple titles.
His contributions to martial arts were recognized when he was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame twice: first as Fighter of the Year in 1971 and later as Instructor of the Year in 1994. Throughout his career, Mike had the opportunity to train numerous celebrities, including Priscilla Presley and Michelle Pfeiffer, and even served as a bodyguard, further showcasing his multifaceted skills and influence in the martial arts community.
